A 17-year-old African American boy named Kwasi Enin has earned acceptance from the eight Ivy League Universities in the United States.
Kwasi, a Long Island teen who is also the son of Ghanaian immigrants achieved an outstanding feat by learning acceptance into all of the eight Ivy League schools. The Ivy League is a group of eight prestigious universities in the United States known for their academic rigor, excellent faculty, and wide range of extracurricular activities.
He graduated from William Floyd High School in New York, ranking 11 out of 647 students in his class. Kwasi also scored 2,250 out of 2,400 points on his SAT (Standardized Test) which puts him in the 99th percentile for African-American students in the United States.
“By applying to all eight, I figured it would better the chances of getting into one,” he said in ann interview with New York Daily News.

Upon graduation from high school, Kwasi will have completed 11 Advanced Placement classes. Aside from being an excellent student, he also sings in the school a capella group and volunteers at his local hospital.
The Ivy League universities including Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University, and the University of Pennsylvania all sent acceptance letters to Kwasi.
Like his parents who are both nurses in the United States, Kwasi plans to pursue a career in medicine stating that he aspires to be a cardiologist or a neurologist.
Kwasi’s guidance counselor, Nancy Winkler describes his achievement as exceptional adding that she has never experienced it in the 15 years of her career. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my 15 years as a high-school counsellor. He’s going to be a leader in whatever he chooses,” Nancy said.
He mentioned that he comes from an academic family stating that some of his uncles and cousins were also accepted to more than one Ivy League college. “I’ve always thought they were far better than me academically,” he said.
Aside from his Ivy League acceptance, Kwasi also earned acceptance from four prestigious universities. He stated that he will be attending Yale University, Conneticut because of its curriculum and financial aid.
“I’m thinking about Yale. I really liked their sense of family, the relationships between undergraduates and professors, and the residential college. They also have a strong biomedical engineering program, which is a wonderful combination of biology and creative tools that doctors and health care professionals can use,” he said.
Advising future applicants, Kwasi said they should follow their passions in high school and not just follow suit for what they think can get them into these schools. He added that they should develop their outside interests and not just academics.
