A brilliant young lady named Aminat Lawal graduated from the University of Ibadan with a first-class Law degree 42 years after her father graduated and was denied the first-class grade at the same university.
Aminat obtained her bachelor’s degree in Law at the University of Ibadan with remarkable first-class honors. She shared her achievement on Linkedin dedicating the success and degree to her father.
She mentioned that her father graduated from the University of Ibadan 42 years ago with a second-class upper grade instead of a first-class grade because he was denied it. ”42 years ago, my father graduated from the University of Ibadan with a Second Class (Upper) having been denied a first class he had earned,” she said.
Aminat stated that she spent eight years in the university and it was challenging. She stated that she had to stay at home for a year and a half before resuming because her admission was deferred.

She mentioned that she also faced the challenges of numerous academic strikes which added to the years she was supposed to spend at the university. Aminat said despite the strenuous times, the academic journey is an experience she would not take back.
Aminat said through the academic journey, she was able to discover several passions and interests of hers that she was not aware of. She said she successfully registered a chapter of ‘Girl Up’ in her university through which we ran several campaigns that she is proud of.Â
While at the university, Aminat was appointed the General Secretary of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society in her third year which she said ignited her passion for working in programs and operations, a field she will continue to explore
Aminat said the eight years in the university taught her the power of dreaming and reaching beyond the stars, a trait she hopes to never lose. She said she looks forward to chasing her passions, interests, and opportunities with hopes of discovering where they lead her.
