A young woman named Rexy Rolle has finally been appointed as the CEO and President of Western Airlines after 23 years of working as a baggage handler in the airport. She also made history as the first ever female CEO of the airline.
The 35-year-old woman was also appointed as the Accountable Manager of Western Air, the Bahamas’ largest privately owned airline. This historic appointment places her in the esteemed 8% of female airline CEOs globally.
Rexy is the daughter of Western Air’s founder, Captain Rex Rolle, and has been an integral part of the company since the age of 12. She began as a baggage handler and continued serving the company in different positions.
She expressed her gratitude on Linkedin stating that she is thankful for the opportunity, acknowledging the hard work and commitment of the talented team at Western Air. She also credited the achievement to her father’s legacy. “As a family business, it’s truly an honor to step into the role that my Dad served for so long,” she said.

Beyond her aviation accomplishments, Rexy is also a seasoned attorney. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
She proceeded to earn a master’s degree in Mass Media and Communications at Lynn University, Florida in the United States after which she enrolled at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, California where she earned a Doctor of Law certificate.
Rexy’s legal expertise has been crucial in orchestrating multimillion-dollar transactions and ensuring the airline’s compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
She showed great resilience by managing the reconstruction and reopening of the Western Air Freeport Passenger Terminal during tough times like Hurricane Dorian and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rexy took on various responsibilities including overseeing daily operations and legal matters, demonstrating her dedication to passengers. In the future, she will emphasize her commitment to customers and Western Air’s main goal of offering safe, top-notch, reasonably priced, and effective air travel.
Rexy stated that her imagination is travel that is simple and worry-free, as shown in the airline’s policies that focus on customers, like allowing tickets to be used for a year without any fees for changes or cancellations.
