Brilliant Nigerian man graduates top of his class, bags Geology degree

A brilliant Nigerian man named Emmanuel Olajide graduated at the top of his class after he bagged a Geology degree with good grades at the Federal University of Technology, Minna in Nigeria.

Emmanuel obtained his bachelor’s degree in Geology with first-class honors at the Federal University of Technology, Minna in Nigeria. He graduated as the Top 3 student in his department.

He took to Facebook to celebrate his achievement of bagging the degree stating all of the academic and extracurricular accomplishments he earned during the undergraduate program.

Emmanuel mentioned that he felt like a failure when writing his last undergraduate examination. He said right from high school, his goal has been set on graduating with a first-class degree because of the success stories he read in newspapers.

Emmanuel said he made up his mind to graduate university with a first-class and fortunately, he scored a first-class grade point average in his first year which made him ecstatic that he was going to graduate as a first-class student.

He stated that he went on to win the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence in his second and third year in addition to winning two scholarships. However, he faced an unexpected turn when his results dropped drastically in his fourth year.

”I had written my worst result throughout my sojourn in school and couldn’t even make a 4.0 SGPA. So, I couldn’t retain retain my first class,” he said. Emmanuel said he was determined to do better in his final year at the university.

”500 level first semester came and I did try my best. The results were released and I wrote a first-class SGPA and my CGPA increased! But it wasn’t enough,” he said.

Emmanuel stated that he worked harder in the first semester of his fifth year and his grade point average increased but it was not enough to push him into a first-class grade which made him lose hope.

He said he was down and saw himself as a failure. However, he came across a book which encouraged him to push harder. Emmanuel expressed his gratitude to his parents, siblings, friends, ASF FUTMinna, and everyone who played a critical role in his sojourn in the school.

He stated that alongside with his first-class degree, he was able to participate and achieve some other things during the degree. Emmanuel said he served in 5 major leadership positions including President, Vice President, and General Secretary.

He won an Inter-faculty debating competition as a runner-up winner, wrote and launched 6 books with readers from the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, and Ghana, and built a business through which he earned 6 figures monthly.

Emmanuel said he also mentored a lot of people in the first-class and second-class upper division, served as a tutor to his mates, and produced notes for them which helped them to ace their exams and became a renowned and highly sought-after public speaker who has impacted over 30,000 people through his teaching and speaking engagements.
