Young African man grows from being a village boy to become Oxford University scholar, bags 2 masters degrees

A brilliant African man named Abdel Dicko has achieved exceptional success after earning 2 master’s degrees at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Abdel obtained his Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He was able to earn the degree through the Rhodes Trust scholarship.

He took to Linkedin to share his achievement of earning the degree stating that the practice-oriented postgraduate degree complements the Master of Science degree he had earlier earned at the university.

The Rhodes Scholarship is an international postgraduate award for students to study two master’s degrees of their choice at the University of Oxford in Oxford, United Kingdom.

Abdel won the Rhodes Scholarship upon finishing his bachelor’s degree in Honors Political Science at McGill University, Canada. He graduated from the university with first-class honors.

He proceeded to earn a Master of Science (MSc) in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the Department of International Development, University of Oxford.

Sharing his achievement, he placed his convocation pictures side by side with an African hut stating that the iconic “Rad Cam” building at the University of Oxford is just a posh/fancy version of an “African round hut.

Abdel stated that he is thankful to all the kind souls and generous institutions who have supported him throughout the highly formative academic journey, 

”I am because we are. As the wise elders say where I’m from, “If you don’t know where you’re going next, remember where you came from,” he said.

He said looking back at where his journey all started and how far he and his family have come, he is humbled and motivated to keep running his marathon with good faith, core values, and lots of humility.

He said over the recent years, he has spent a significant amount of time focusing on comprehending and creating solutions for the numerous conflicts, governance issues, and developmental obstacles affecting the African continent and its resilient population.

Abdel stated that as he transitions to his next endeavors, he is eager to engage with individuals and organizations that are truly dedicated to promoting lasting peace, justice, and dignity in Africa and globally.
