A brilliant 24-year-old lady named Lydia Adi Kolo has bagged a Medicine degree at Sumy State University, Ukraine with outstanding first class honors of 4.88 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade point.
Lydia also won the award as the overall best-graduating student of her graduating set in the university.
She did not only win the award as the overall best student, she also received the award for the best performance in Internal Medicine and Surgery. Lydia has always been an excellent student since her high school days.
She was the best-graduating student of Danbo International School, Kaduna in Nigeria after making an A in all the subjects she sat for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Lydia said she was motivated to study medicine by her father, who is also a medical doctor. She said she always admired his profession and wanted to follow in his footsteps. She also credited her mother for being supportive and encouraging throughout her educational journey.
She mentioned that she faced some difficulties in adapting to the Ukrainian culture and language, but she overcame them with determination and perseverance. She said she learned to appreciate the diversity and beauty of different cultures and people.
“I believe that education is the key to success and empowerment. I always strive to do my best in whatever I do and never settle for less,” she said.
She stated that she plans to return to Nigeria after completing her internship in Ukraine with hopes of specializing in neurology or cardiology and working in a tertiary hospital in her state.
Lydia said her goal is to serve in her state where everyone will benefit from her pool of knowledge. She also intends to engage in community service and mentorship programs for young girls who aspire to study medicine.
