A young and brilliant Nigerian man named, Goodluck Obi Agu has won scholarships to earn both Masters and PhD degrees at three universities including the University of Alberta, the University of Alabama and the University of Rochester in New York, United States.
Goodluck Agu started his higher educational journey at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, South-West, Nigeria where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
After his undergraduate studies, he applied for several scholarship awards to study abroad and was awarded Fully Funded Scholarships in universities in the United States and Canada.
“This past application cycle, I also received a couple of other exciting offers, notably: the University of Rochester—where I got selected as recipient of the Robert Chen fellowship, and the University of Alabama—where I received a direct PhD-ship,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

He however explained that he has decided to accept the offer from the University of Alberta, Canada and has commenced his Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering at the institution.
“I am thrilled to share that I have started my masters program in Mechanical Engineering–Engineering Management at the University of Alberta on a full scholarship,” Obi Agu stated.
He explained further that his focus would be on Energy Systems Research and would be well placed to carry out perfect research as the University of Alberta prides itself as a Canadian top five/ Canada’s number one university for Energy Systems Engineering/ and a top ten in the world for Energy Systems research.
He thanked everyone that supported his educational journey right from Nigeria to Canada. “I am excited about what the future holds and I embrace this new phase with open arms,” he said.
