18-year-old, Katie Han has emerged as Benicia High School valedictorian with a 4.57 grade point average and was awarded a full scholarship to Stanford University, United States.
Katie was awarded the overall best-graduating student of Benicia High School, Benicia in the United States after she graduated with a 4.57 cumulative grade point average. She told Time Herald that her valedictory speech referenced the seniors re-connecting.
“I talked about the children’s book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and how there are sometimes bumps in the road and you might feel isolated at times. It talked about how sometimes you have to push through that,” Han said.
Katie’s outstanding performance earned her a full academic scholarship to study for her bachelor’s degree at Stanford University.

“In eighth grade, I wanted to go to Stanford, but I always felt like it was a long shot. I thought I could get into Berkeley and figured that might be where I was going to go,” she said.
Katie mentioned that she applied to so many schools especially University of California campuses and also California state colleges. She stated that one of her favorite thing to do as a senior was Advanced Placement Research.
She stated that she will be majoring her undergraduate studies in Biology because its her passion.“Ever since about seventh grade, I’ve always loved biology,” she said. “I love all of the intricacies of biology and I’ve always been intrigued by anatomy.”
In another story, a young African-American boy named Jeremiah Daniels has made history as the first black valedictorian of Boca Ciega High School, United States after scoring an outstanding 4.60 cumulative grade points.
Jeremiah Daniels is a teen from Florida who was awarded the second-best graduating student of Boca Ciega High School, Florida in the United States.
Jeremiah set a record as the first Black male after graduating with a 4.60 cumulative grade points which made him the second-highest ranking in his graduating class in the school’s 69-year history. Read more about Jeremiah HERE.
