A brilliant Nigerian lady named Ellie Okoka who had earned two degrees in Physiology has returned to school to bag a Medicine degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She graduated with a remarkable 10 distinctions out of the 13 courses she did.
Ellie obtained her first degree in Physiology in 2014 at the University of Lagos, Nigeria with an honors grade where she was also awarded the best-graduating student of the 2013/2014 Physiology class.
She proceeded to earn a Master of Science degree in Cell Physiology at the same University of Lagos. After obtaining her master’s degree, Ellie went on to pursue higher academic achievements to meet the standards of academia.
She also bagged a diploma in Leadership and Management in Health with a distinction at the University of Washington, United States. Sharing her achievement on Linkedin, she said the success reflects years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering support from her loved ones.

Ellie obtained a Medicine and Surgery degree (MBBS) from the Lagos State College of Medicine, where she not only completed the program with distinction (Honors) but was also recognized as the best graduating student after she scored the highest number of distinctions.
She mentioned that she initially wanted to study medicine but narrowly missed the admission cut-off by a few marks and was offered the opportunity to study physiology instead.
Ellie said upon the completion of her studies while contemplating the next step she should take, she decided to go for her passion which was Medicine so as not to live with regret in the future.
Ellie said studying physiology was enjoyable adding that learning about how the body systems work was fascinating and lovable. She said it provided her with a strong foundation which was valuable in diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
She stated that with her background in physiology, she was confident despite the difficulties of medical school. Ellie said the experience gave her a deep understanding of how the body works, helping her approach medical cases more effectively.
Elli said her background in Physiology sets her apart from others in medical fields because she could bridge the gap between basic science and clinical application. She added that it also helped her diagnostic capabilities and facilitated effective communication with her patients.
She stated that the major challenge she had was the workload of the medical school curriculum which made it difficult for her to balance studying with other aspects of her life. Ellie said she overcomes it by managing her time effectively and planning her activities.
She stated that the greatest strength she has as a medical professional is being able to communicate with patients making them feel seen and heard. Ellie said she pride herself in being able to communicate with people from different works of life.
Ellie mentioned that her goal is to contribute her quota to advancements in healthcare while living a fulfilling happy life. She added that she is interested in health, Internal medicine, pediatrics, Hematology and Oncology, clinical research, academics, and human rights.Â
