The Dillard University, New Orleans, Louisiana, America has amazed one of their scholarly graduands by bringing her certificate to meet her in a labour room.
The scholar who goes by name Jada Sayles was expected to be present at the convocation ceremony of Dillard University in New Orleans but could not attend the event due to child birth.
She narrated the event that led to the birth of her son on the same date she was to graduate from the university. According to her, she was prepared to walk across the stage to get her degree, instead she got a baby boy.
“I thought I was gonna walk across the stage to get my degree, instead I got my baby,” Sayles tweeted.

Amazingly, the University after learning about her child birth shocked her by bring her degree to meet her in the hospital after she had given birth.
She celebrated her Dillard University certificate in the hospital with newly born son and celebrated two successes on a single day. Dr. Walter M Kimbrough, the outgoing president of the historically Black university, decided to award her the degree himself in her hospital room.
Narrating the event, Sayles wrote; “My sweet face decided to make his way on MY big day (now his). Shoutout to my university for still bringing my graduation and degree to me. Ima college graduate & mommy, talk to me nice!”
The president of the university dressed in a ceremonial robe arrived at Sayles hospital ward after she gave birth to a baby boy and conferred her the bachelor’s degree, in presence of her family members.
Sayles received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections certificate while she wear her gorgeously decorated cap and gown while holding her new baby in her arms. The university received praises from people all over the world as Sayles was also congratulated for achieving the great feat.
In another story, a 52-year-old housemaid in the United States has achieved her dream of becoming a Bachelor’s Degree holder after 30 years of taking care of others.
The housemaid named Lyn Thomas graduated from the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York, the United States with a Degree in Public Health. She worked as a nanny for several decades after moving to New York at the age of 18 to join her mother. Read more about Lyn Thomas HERE.
