16-year-old boy graduates from US university before finishing high school, set to become a banker

A brilliant 16-year-old boy named Addison Davis has graduated with a degree from the University of Maine, United States despite still being a high school student. 

Davis, a student of Van Buren Secondary School, Maine in the United States has bagged an associate’s degree in Liberal Studies at the University of Maine. He stated that he started taking college courses as a high school freshman.

He said he was motivated to double up and take college classes because it would help him obtain scholarships and boost his chances of getting into a top-tier university. Davis earned 64 credits and took 21 different classes at the University of Maine.

The University of Maine System Director of Government and Community Relations Samantha Warren said Davis participated in the early college program and finished high school with six college credits, or the equivalent of two classes.

In addition to earning a high school diploma and associate degree at the same time, Davis participated in varsity sports at Van Buren and extracurricular activities. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and the JA (Junior Achievement) Titan Challenge.

“It’s just what I do. I think I’m pretty good at time management. The college classes don’t really affect me. I get my work done. I dedicate one or two days a week to do my college work and then I do my schoolwork during the week,” he said.

Davis’s hard work and determination earned him acceptance from the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and San Diego State University. He stated that he hopes to get into either the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) or the University of Southern California.

He stated that his favorite high school classes include accounting, math, and business communications and as for college classes, Davis enjoys statistics, English composition, and history.

Davis said he plans to start a career in Finance adding that he wants to become an investment banker. “I want to do finance. And then I want to go into investment banking.“I think it’s awesome. I just found myself looking into it, and I thought it would be good for me,” he said.
