A Nigerian man named Segun Mcmedal has bagged a masters degree at the University of Lagos, Nigeria 25 years after he earned his bachelors.
Segun Mcmedal, a public relations expert in Nigeria obtained his bachelors degree in Sociology at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria in 1998 before he proceeded to Times Journalism Institute where he earned a post-gradate degree in Journalism.
He recently bagged his Master’s in Public and International Affairs at the University of Lagos. Segun shared his achievement on Linkedin stating that his graduation story is one of triumph and transformation.
”It is official! Last Thursday, I was awarded a Master of Public and International Affairs (MPIA) degree by the University of Lagos, having completed all the requirements for the programme. I fancy being a diplomat.,” he said.

Segum mentioned that he enrolled for his masters in 2019 with plans of convocating in two years but the program was prolonged because of the Covid 19 Pandemic and the university’s academic union strike.
He stated that the academic journey started with two of his friends who thought the program was a one-year study on weekends but upon resumption, they learned it was a full-time education lasting 18 months.
Segun added that though it was a huge price to commute to class every weekday they remained determined. He added that all of the stress was worth it at the end stating that he had an exciting time and felt younger while learning.
Segun stated that he is thankful for the opportunity to learn and interact with others. He also acknowledged the contributions of his family for their support and encouragement during the course of the program.
