Despite having F9 parallel in O’level exams, Man fights back to graduate as the best graduating student in University

A Nigerian Man known as Mayowa Joshua Amusan has graduated from one of the leading Universities in Africa, the University of Ibadan South West Nigeria, after bagging a first class from the Department of Agricultural Economics.

Mayowa Joshua not only graduated with a first class, but also as the best graduating student of his department despite being a poor student while he was in High School or Secondary School.

Joshua who took to his Linkedin page to narrate his story explained that he had to fight and conquer his poor academic performance after scoring F9 in all the subjects he sat for in the National Examination Council (NECO) examination and having to sit for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination three times before securing a credible result.

Scoring F9 in a subject indicates that the candidate scored between 0 and 39% (0 – 39/100) and therefore failed woefully.

Narrating further, he said he had to pass through a Polytechnic before finally securing an admission to study Agricultural Economics in the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

“I then proceeded to The Polytechnic of Ibadan. At the start, my CGPA was quite low but with hard work, consistency, and the help of God, I made a Distinction in Agricultural Technology,” he wrote on Linkedin.

Agricultural Economics is one of the best Agricultural courses in the world as it entails not only the study of Agricultural Sciences, it also encapsulate the economics behind Agriculture. According to Wikipedia, Agricultural economics is an applied field of economics concerned with the application of economic theory in optimizing farm production and agribusiness systems.

Despite the poor beginnigs of Mayowa Joshua, he was able to forge ahead and later graduated as a First Class Graduate from the University of Ibadan and also, as the best graduating student in his graduation set.

“My parents and siblings believed in me and God-willing I gained admission through direct entry into 200 Level to study Agricultural Economics. I not only made a first-class, but I graduated as the best in my department,” he wrote.

While explaining how he made it, he expressed that with God, everything is possible and that no matter what happens, never give up.

“With God, hard work, a loving family, and good friends everything is possible.
Keep at it and DO NOT GIVE UP!”, he said.

Explaining how he looks for forge ahead after his undergraduate degree, Joshua opined that he is looking forward to gaining more experience and will always keep tabs with information on International Scholarship opportunities.
