Brilliant Nigerian Lawyer bags masters degree in Law, gets called to Nigerian and Canadian Bar within two years, celebrates success

A brilliant Nigerian Lawyer named Emmanuel Oyesomi has achieved exceptional feats in Canada. He bagged his master’s degree and was called to the Nigerian and Canadian bar within two years.

Emmanuel obtained his master’s degree in Constitutional and Business Law at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada. He took to LinkedIn to celebrate his achievement stating that he achieved all of the success within two years.

”On June 21st, 2024, I was called to the bar of Newfoundland, Canada. I recall landing in Canada in January 2022, a few months after I was called to the Nigerian Bar, dreaming about this moment,” he said.

He mentioned that the journey to being called to the bar of Newfoundland, Canada was not without it challenges. Emmanuel said it was full of intense study sessions for the licensing and bar exams including an extensive bar course.

Emmanuel said he went through the bar course while running his master’s program. He stated that balancing academic demands, work responsibilities, and personal commitments while maintaining my mental health was very demanding.

However, he remained focused and determined which is why he is proud to have finally achieved the feat.

He expressed his gratitude to his connections at Deloitte, Budden & Associates where he articled. He also thanked his friends and family, especially his parents and siblings adding that he could not have achieved the feat without their support.

Moving forward, Emmanuel said he will be joining Gittens, de Beer & Associates, a full-service law firm renowned for excellence and boasting a team of highly skilled lawyers and staff. He said he is looking forward to doing what he loves every day, representing clients favorably in Court.

He mentioned that he believes that the practice of law goes beyond the Courtroom, but in giving back to his community which is why he would be starting a scholarship program for certain Nigerian Law School students.

He said the scholarship will pay for the tuition of the students who are chosen. Emmanuel said with this initiative, he wants to support and encourage others who aspire to study law.
