Young Nigerian Lady who failed JAMB 3 times finally bags Mechanical Engineering degree with a 4.68/5.00GPA

A young Nigerian lady named Ibilola Olagbegi who failed JAMB thrice has finally bagged a Mechanical Engineering degree with 4.68 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade point from Covenant University.

Ibilola Olagbegi bagged her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Covenant University. Narrating her story on Linkedin, she stated that she had always wanted to be a Medical Doctor but life had other plans.

She mentioned that she wrote Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) twice after she graduated from high school but her score on both attempts was not good enough to study medicine at the university.

Ibilola said she spent seven years in an attempt to have her desired degree. She wrote the JAMB exam on the third attempt and failed to meet the cut-off mark for Medicine.

Upon not meeting the Medicine cut-off mark twice, Ibilola decided to change her career tune to Nursing. She wrote another JAMB and got admission into the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo Nigeria to study Physiotherapy.

However, she was given a condition by her father to enroll for the course to have something doing but she did not give up. She said her father encouraged her to write another JAMB again.

She wrote JAMB and applied to study for Mechanical Engineering at Covenant University but she was admitted for Information and Communication Engineering Instead.

Ibilola stated that her dad was very skeptical and wanted her to rewrite the JAMB exam again but she said her sister convinced her to prepare harder to pass in her first year so she can switch courses.

She said she had a cumulative grade point average of 4.33 over a possible 5.00 and was able to change her course to Mechanical Engineering. While at Covenant University, she said she dedicated herself to bettering herself and those around her.

She mentioned that she took on leadership roles in the Technical Crew and Mechanical Engineering Department in order to serve and make a difference adding that the experiences strengthened her passion for learning and empowering others to reach their highest potential.

Ibilola advises others who have any delay in any endeavor to see it as a time of preparing them for the promise noting that they should keep striving for their dreams!
