Twin brothers who won full scholarship to MIT bags Biological Engineering degree, set to earn PhD

Twin Brothers, Miles, and Malik George, who were awarded a full scholarship to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduated with their bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering.

The George twins are African Americans who excelled academically in high school. They were honored with the titles of high school valedictorians and were awarded full scholarships to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.

With the scholarship, the twins obtained their bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering and a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies. They were not only active in academics, but they also participated in various extracurriculars and were part of diverse groups.

The twins were members of Nu Delta Fraternity, The Standard, and Laureates and Leaders. They also worked with Masachussets Institute of Technology Admissions as Admissions Ambassadors to increase the number of underrepresented students who apply to the university.

Aside from school activities, the George twins are also gamers. They play both board and video games with the people around them. They are also big comic book universe fans and love theorizing about the latest Marvel or DC movies.

They attributed their success to the support and guidance of their parents who instilled in them a strong work ethic and a passion for education. The twins said from a young age, they were encouraged to explore their interests and strive for excellence in all endeavors.

While at MIT, the twins also launched ther own STEM and College initiative with their website ”www.malikandmiles.com”. They started a STEM-based social media platform on TikTok and have since spread their reach to Instagram, Twitter, and Discord.

Through these platforms, they have created an interactive and diverse community centered around higher education, the sciences, and the sheer love of learning.

The twins mentioned on their LinkedIn that they have been accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study for their doctorate in Biological Engineering.

Malik said they would be working with the university’s School of Engineering on K12 STEM outreach, recruitment, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Miles said he is excited to be among the first in his family to join a PhD program adding that it is a dream he could not have realized without the help he has had over the years.

Miles said as a black scientist, engineer, and educator in America, he aims to bring equitable technologies to underserved communities and continue my work to recruit people of color into STEM and higher education.

Malik on the other hand said he is committed to working with others to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges during his time in graduate school.
