Brilliant Nigerian-American Lady graduates from Howard university with honours, wins US Fulbright Scholarship to earn PhD

A brilliant Nigerian-American Lady, Racheal Modupeoluwa Ayankunbi has won the prestigious United States Fulbright Scholarship after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Howard University in Washington DC.

Racheal Ayankunbi who is a native of Maryland enrolled at Howard University to study Biology major with Chemistry as a minor. She aspires to pursue an MD-Ph.D. to become a cardiothoracic surgeon while also conducting research on lung cancer cells, according to Howard University.

Throughout her undergraduate studies, Racheal Ayankunbi also pursued a passion for ancient Greek art and literature with a second minor in Classical Civilization. She holds an Associate of Arts degree from Prince George’s Community College in Maryland, United States.

After an exceptional undergraduate performance, she emerged as one of the winners of the prestigious US Fulbright Scholarship Scholarship which will accord her the opportunity to study the role of epigenetic regulators in the development of bladder cancer at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Greece.

The United States Fulbright Scholarship offers scholarships to outstanding students every year to pursue their dream research in several countries around the world. Racheal Ayankunbi won the scholarship alongside two other Howard University graduates.

The two others are Ashleigh Brown-Grier and Carl Romer. Ashleigh Brown-Grier proceeds to South Africa to study Black institutions of higher learning and examine the apartheid-era inequities that affected them and the impacts faced during COVID-19.

Carl Romer on the other hand proceeds to the London School of Economics in the United Kingdom, where he will work towards an MSc in economics and philosophy.
