Twin brothers, Jamil and Jamal Paul who are both working as pilots, decide to fly together for the first time using the opportunity as a ploy to surprise their father by taking him on his first flight ever on Father’s Day.
Twin brothers Jamil and Jalal , who both fly for United Airlines and pilot the B-737 aircraft, had the opportunity to fly together for the first time in their professional careers on a flight to their home state of New Jersey.
“As twins, my brother and I have done so much together except fly as co-pilots for United. You couldn’t script a day like this any better!” Jalal said.
Given their rigorous schedules as Houston-based pilots, the Paul brothers hardly have time to visit their hometown in New Jersey, where their father and the rest of the family still live.

To make the most of Father’s Day, the two asked their father to have breakfast with them at Newark Liberty International Airport with plans to surprise him.
Jamil and Jalal invited their dad to join them at the airport for breakfast while they had secretly purchased a round-trip ticket for their father, Gerald, to join them on their flight from Newark to Miami.
“We knew we wanted to visit our dad during this weekend. We never would’ve thought we would be able to fly him. Today was such a special day for all of us,” Jamil said.
The twins said the moment was really special for their dad, who had never flown on a commercial plane piloted by his sons.
They mentioned that the Miami flight route also held nostalgic value, as they had flown with their father on this very route when they were just four years old, which was their first-ever flight.
The Paul brothers mentioned that their father was “astounded and confused” as he prepared to board the airplane. However, upon entering the aircraft and spotting his sons on the flight deck, he instantly felt joy and excitement for an experience that was deemed a ”blessing beyond imagination.”
Gerald said the 2024 Father’s Day was his first without his father, who passed away earlier in the year, so the chance to spend the day with his sons, flying together, made the occasion even more meaningful for this family.
“I’m so proud of my sons. They wanted to fly planes since they were little boys. I’m grateful they are living their dreams,” Gerald said.
