Brilliant Nigerian Engineer celebrates her Bachelor’s Degree after benefitting from Shell Oil and Federal Government Scholarships

An exceptionally brilliant Nigerian Engineer by name Rita Okonkwo has celebrated bagging a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering through benefits from the Shell Petroleum and the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Scholarship Award.

The Shell Petroluem Development Company (SPDC) awards Scholarships to Nigerian Undergraduates every year, with benefits ranging between N150,000 – N200,000 every year until graduation. This Scholarship award opens around September every year and closes around October.

The Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship Award on the other hand, is also a yearly scholarship award sponsored by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to aid the studies of Nigerians both home and abroad. Rita Okonkwo, a graduate of Computer Engineering from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), South South Nigeria expressed her profound joy to finally hold the title of an Engineer.

In her Linkedin post sharing the good news, she thanked the Federal Government, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and her parent for supporting her financially throughout her academic journey.

“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to SPDC (Shell Petroleum Development Company) and FSB (Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship Board) for their financial assistance via scholarship…” she wrote on her Linkedin.

Rita, who is also a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador thanked the Microsoft Community for providing her a platform to grow and improve as a lady in technology.

She graduated as the best female graduating student and also the second best graduating student of the school with a CGPA of 4.77 out of a possible 5.00.
