Despite the challenges, Lyric remained focused on her next steps and turned to Tallo Organisation in search of financial aid for her top choice university, Drexel University.
“College had always been part of the plan…the whole virtual experience was hectic. I’m a hands-on learner. But with everything I’d accomplished, I knew I couldn’t give up…but I was really this close to saying I’m over it,” she said.
She mentioned that she saw Tallo’s $10,000 scholarship opportunity, and she applied right away stating that what drew her attention to it was the fact that Tallo’s scholarship was a “no essay” one.
Lyric’s scholarship submission impressed the Tallo team, who were inspired by her intelligence, drive, and passion for education. Instead of sending her an acceptance message, they surprised her through Good Morning America.
She was awarded 50,000 dollars worth of scholarship on the show to further her studies at Drexel University. “The fact that people care about me learning, it just makes me want to go so much harder,” she said.
Lyric said she has plans to become a lawyer stating that her goal is to make a positive impact on her community.
