A young and brilliant Nigerian Economist, Kawthar Olawunmi has bagged the United Kingdom’s Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Award, which will allow her to study at the University of London, the UK after an incredible academic performance in Nigeria.
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Award is a yearly award sponsored by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom, for candidates from least developed and lower middle income Commonwealth countries to stufy a full-time Master’s degree on selected courses, jointly supported by UK universities.
The selection process for the 2023 version of the awards of Full Scholarship and £1,516 Monthly Stipend is ongoing (DETAILS HERE) and is available for Nigerians and several other countries across the world.
Sharing her success story through her Linkedin profile, Kawthar Olawunmi who had earlier been awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Fountain University, Nigeria, was pleased to have been awarded the opportunity to study for her Master’s Degree in Development Economics at the University of London.

“I am glad to announce that i have been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship to study Msc. Development Economics at SOAS University of London, UK plus a full residential scholarship at International Student House, London,” she wrote on her Linkedin.
She shared photos from the pre-departure briefing held in Lagos, Nigeria alongside some of the other beneficiaries before they took off to the United Kingdom.

Some other benefits she was awarded include a full residential scholarship at the International Student House, London. The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships also award scholars with a monthly stipend of £1,390 (N571,000) throughout the study in United Kingdom.
The major requirement to apply for this award is a Bachelor’s Degree (First class, 2,1 or 2,2) as well as the availability to study in the United Kingdom.
