A brilliant Nigerian Lady named Olaitan Olayiwola has achieved outstanding success after she became a Lawyer and accountant in the same year.
Olaitan Olayiwola began her undergraduate studies at the University of Ibadan where she enrolled for a Bachelor of Law but in her second year of the university, she decided to become an accountant.
”6 years ago, I took a big risk, and that changed my story. I was a second-year law student, yet I decided to become an Accountant,” she shared on her Linkedin.
She stated that to fulfill her goals, she went on to research her options on professional accounting courses she can take including ICAN or ACCA. Olaitan said she settled for ACCA -Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Olaitan said she chose ACCA because it is globally recognized, has robust course content, and has unlimited opportunities. Having made a decision, she told her father but he was skeptical about her decision.
She stated that her father questioned her decision because she was achieving first-class honors, and he feared taking the accounting professional course would be a distraction that would affect her grades.
Olaitan said though she understood her father she did not back down. She stated that she was willing to take the risk so she worked towards creating her luck.Â
Fortunately, Olaitan found a 95% discount offer to register for the AACA. All she had to do was attend an ACCA conference in Lagos, so she quickly took advantage of the opportunity.
She mentioned that she bought books for the first course because she could not afford the classes on her own and she studied lightly through the semester. Luckily for her, she was awarded a scholarship from NNPC/Chevron which enabled her to pay for the first exam which she studied intensely for 7 days.
Olaitan said she wrote her first ACCA exam in 2018 and she passed, this motivated her to continue. She said she combined ACCA with her law degree, self-studying for all exams, and she was still able to earn her bachelor of Law with a first-class grade.
She mentioned that another big risk she took in the academic journey was balancing her final ACCA exam with the demanding Law School bar exams in the same year. Remarkably, she excelled in both.
Now, dual qualification. She was called to the bar, becoming a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In the same year, she also qualified as an Accountant. ”Let the congratulatory comments start rolling in for O. R. OLAYIWOLA Esq. LLB (Hons) BL(Hons) ACCA (Affiliate),” she said.
