A brilliant Nigerian lady named Olayinka Esther Olaniyi graduated at the top of her class after she bagged a Biochemistry degree with a 4.80/5.00 first-class grade at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Olayinka Olaniyi obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Lagos, Nigeria with a first-class honors of 4.80 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade point average.
She took to LinkedIn to celebrate earning the degree and graduating as the overall best student in her department. Olayinka said her achievement is a testament to the transformative power of determination and unwavering dedication.
However, this is not Olayinka’s first post-high school educational milestone. She earned a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology at Yaba College of Technology(YABATECH), Lagos Nigeria with a 3.48/4.0 cumulative grade point.

Olayinka stated that finishing YABATECH with an excellent grade was a decent accomplishment, but it ignited a fire within her to reach even greater heights. She said she had high expectations in the university and wanted to graduate with a strong first-class degree.
She said her academic journey also came with its own challenges adding that though her first semester’s grade point of 4.47 suggested a big potential, things were not easy going forward.
Olayinka said she faced the challenges of COVID 19 which made her semesters stretched and compressed. She also said the academic union strikes threatened to affect her ambition but with each hurdle, her resolve for success only grew stronger.
She stated that with the support of her loved ones, the guidance of her lecturers, and her strong desire to learn, she overcame challenges. She said she worked hard every of her semesters achieving a perfect grade point average of 5.00Â in three out of eight semesters.
Olayinka said through her hard work, she made sure to demonstrate her dedication to excellence which made her proud hearing her name announced as the top student in her department.
She said her academic journey was not just about grades and recognition, but it was about surpassing her boundaries and affirming that dedication can overcome anything.
She stated that she is not only celebrating her academic achievement but also the person she has evolved into which is stronger, more resilient, and endlessly curious about the biochemical world.
Olayinka said her future is full of possibilities and she is prepared to face whatever comes her way. She expressed her gratitude to her mentors who have helped her and all those who supported her adding that she is never giving up on her potential.
