An exceptional girl named Dorothy Jean Tillman has achieved an outstanding feat after earning her Master’s degree from Unity College in Maine United States at the young age of 14 years old.
Dorothy Jean Tillman who hails from Chicago, United States had an exceptional academic journey right from when she was a kid. She began talking at 8 months old and started doing math by 4 years old.
She attended High School at 9 and by 10 years old, she had earned an Associate degree in Psychology at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. Dorothy proceeded to earn her Bachelor’s degree in humanities from Excelsior College in Albany, New York at the age of 12.
She stepped her exceptional academic journey up and at the age of 14, she earned her Master’s degree in environmental science and sustainable engineering from Unity College, making her one of the youngest people in the world to achieve such a feat.Â

Dorothy narrated that her grandmother was instrumental in helping her gain interest in in STEM and engineering as she would buy her various magazines and books on the topic, which led the avid young pupil to join engineering and coding enrichment programs as a child.
Dorothy expressed happiness in achieving her record feat as she hopes to become an entrepreneur in future. “I know in the future I want to be an entrepreneur.”
“I want to be my own boss. I kind of want to be able to take everything that I’ve learned, all of my degrees, and group them into one thing. Because the way I am, I can’t stay on one project. I have to hop around to different things to make sure I stay passionate in everything equally,” she said.
She advises upcoming scholars to aim at their dreams and be dedicated to the journey. “To get where you want to be, you have to be dedicated,” she says.
“[I don’t want people to be] like, ‘Oh man, she’s so smart, I can never do that.’ That’s not what I want them to think when they read or hear or see my story. I want them to be like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s so goal-oriented. I need to be determined. I need to have tunnel vision to get to where I want to be. I need to be able to communicate my goals,’ and things like that,” she added.
