Brilliant Nigerian Scientist wins UK Scholarship one month after being rejected by the Scholarship body

A brilliant Nigerian Public Health Scientist known as Onome Etim, has won the United Kingdom’s Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarship Award to study at the University of Sheffield.

Onome Etim who presently enjoys the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarship Award allowing her to study a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the University of Sheffield, UK narrated that she won the Scholarship Award after being rejected initially.

The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarship Award is a yearly Scholarship Award sponsored by the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust to sponsor African Students to the United Kingdom on a Fully Funded Scholarship.

The Trust offers a Full Scholarship to exceptional African Students to study a Master’s Degree at the United Kingdom. Onome Etim who graduated from Babcock University with a First Class in Public was chosen to study a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the University of Sheffield, UK.

She narrated that the Scholarship body had earlier rejected her application but called her back one month after they informed her of her rejection.

“About 5 months ago, I received my last scholarship rejection mail. I felt a mix of emotions, and content was not one.

“I had already accepted the reality of beginning another round of applications when God said No. Exactly one month following that rejection mail, I woke up to an offer from the same scholarship team,” she wrote on her Linkedin.

She expressed her gratitude to the Scholarship body for considering her application again in a rare manner expressing that God has been grateful.

She said: “By the special grace of God, I am currently pursuing an MPH in international development at one of UK’s Russel Group schools, fully funded by the prestigious Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust.”

She also expressed her readiness to support upcoming scholars and provide guidance to them throughout their Scholarship applications.
