A young woman named Kiki Ramsey became pregnant at 17 but did not let it halt her education. Through perseverance and determination, she fought to go back to school and finish her studies.
Kiki’s hard work and determination paid off, as she earned a bachelor’s degree, three master’s degrees, and a doctorate degree. She also achieved an outstanding feat of becoming the first PhD holder in her family.
She shared her achievement on her Linkedin celebrating her achievement despite the odds. ”Today I defied all odds and became the first person to graduate with a PhD in my family and become Dr. Kiki Ramsey!” she said.
She said that initially, she would never thought of earning a PhD or becoming a psychologist. Kiki mentioned that she grew up with a mother who was addicted to drugs.Â

Additionally, Kiki said she became a teenage mom at the age of 17 and lived in low-income housing. She said people saw her as a potential failure or someone who would merely be classified as a statistic.
She credited her success to her mother noting that despite her mother having her own challenges, she was the very first person to motivate her to pursue success. Kiki said she challenged her to go out and change the world and still kept encouraging her.
”My mother, yes the same mother who had her challenges was the very first person to tell me that I can do and become anything I wanted. She challenged me to go out and change the world and I have not stopped trying since,” she said.
