PG Students Gets Dufil Scholarship Worth 5.4 million

Dufil Prima Foods Plc has offered
scholarships worth about
N5.4m to 12 Nutrition and Dietetic
postgraduate students in
the country.
The gesture, the company said, was part of
its contributions
to the manpower development of Nigerian
youths.
The target, it added, was to train high-level
nutrition and
dietetic manpower development in the
country.
Speaking during the presentation of the
money to the
beneficiaries, the Brand Manager, Indomie,
Mr. Amber
Yadav, described the scheme as a means of
producing
trained nutritionists that would drive
development in the
food sector.
The Group Public Relations and Event
Manager, Mr. Tope
Ashiwaju, said the company was a
responsible brand
committed to developing manpower in
nutrition and
dietetic.
“Aside from the company’s desire to impact
positively on the
health sector, owing to the fact that many
diseases are
caused by malnutrition and intake of wrong
diets, it is
positioned as one of the health-friendly food
companies in
Nigeria. In order to maintain this, the
organisation would
need the services of well-trained nutritionists
and dieticians,
which we hope this initiative will go a long
way in achieving.
“It is the hope of the company that in the
nearest future,
Nigeria can boost the quality of manpower in
nutrition and
dietetics as very few universities offer
nutrition at the first
degree and master’s level at the moment, a
situation which
has led to shortage of manpower in this
sector.
“We want to rewrite the nutrition template of
our dear
country, and Dufil as a brand is committed to
raising
professionals who in the nearest future can
place us as a
nation side by side other developed nations in
this regard.”
The Coordinator, Dufil M.Sc. Nutrition Award,
Prof. Tunde
Oguntona, of the Department of Nutrition and
Dietetics,
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta,
hailed the firm
for sponsoring the initiative.
