St. George’s University is a private international university in Grenada, West Indies, offering degrees in medicine, veterinary medicine, public health, the health sciences, nursing, arts and sciences, and business.

To provide context, the admit rate at St. George’s Medical School in Grenada, West Indies, is 41%. This contrasts markedly with the admit rates at the most selective medical schools in the U.S., such as Harvard, with admit rate of 3.7%, Johns Hopkins of 3.9% and Stanford, at 4.7%.

Scholarship Opportunities for Entering Freshmen

1.Legacy of Excellence Scholarship Program

The Legacy of Excellence was established more than ten years ago to award to students with high academic achievement. There are two components of this scholarship.

2.The Chancellor’s Circle Legacy of Excellence Scholarship (CCLOE)

The CCLOE is an automatic award of $80,000 to students with a minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.7, a 3.5 science GPA, and a 29 (old)/506 MCAT score who have been accepted by the Committee on Admission. This scholarship is awarded to the first 50 qualified students in each class to accept it and is distributed over four years.

The University withholds the right to award this scholarship under certain unusual conditions.
Students are identified during the admission application process and notified of their award through the Admissions Office upon acceptance into the University. No application is needed.

3.Legacy of Excellence Scholarship (LOE)

An award of up to $60,000 granted to students demonstrating academic excellence in their undergraduate education, the Legacy of Excellence Scholarship is a partial-tuition scholarship awarded to entering students who demonstrate the commitment and dedication necessary to achieve academic excellence in a rigorous medical curriculum based on their academic history.

Students are identified during the admission application process and notified of their award through the Admissions Office upon acceptance into the University. No application is needed.


City Doctors scholarships

The city Doctors Scholarships Program, the brainchild of St. George’s University and its affiliated hospitals, is a scholarship program designed to attract and educate the best and brightest students to become doctors committed to serving in urban hospitals.

Full and partial tuition scholarships are awarded to US citizen/Permanent Resident students interested in primary care medicine and meeting the specific requirements of each of our participating affiliated hospitals.

1. City Doctors HHC Scholarship

Eligible student must have a permanent address within the five boroughs of The City of New York, and meet at either be a graduate of a New York City high school, have lived in the City of New York for the past five years, or have a parent employed by the City of New York or HHC or is employed themselves by the City of New York or HHC. 2.City Doctors Methodist Hospital Scholarship
Eligible students must be either a current resident of Brooklyn for at least one year, a current employee of New York Methodist Hospital, or have a parent who is a full time employee of New York Methodist Hospital. More information is available on the CityDoctors Methodist Scholarship website.

3.City Doctors HackensackUMC Scholarship
Eligible students must be residents of Bergen County, NJ and either a HackensackUMC’s employee or an immediate family member of an employee. Awards are granted for 50% tuition and applied to the four years of medical school while enrolled at SGU School of Medicine. More information is available on the CityDoctors HackensackUMC website.
