The Tallinn University invites applications for the Specialty Scholarship program which will be provided to Interested applicants who are willing to undergo a degree program at the Institution.

This scholarship program is created to support and motivate full-time Doctoral students studying in areas which are of priority to the state or to choose the topic of the dissertation in a smart specialization growth area.


Tallinn University is the largest university of humanities in Tallinn and the third biggest public university in Estonia. It is acknowledged both locally and internationally for its role as a centre for science and education.We have around 7500 students (with 9,5 % of them international) , and over 800 employees, including over 400 researchers and lecturers.

Tallinn University is a partner in 14 European Union regional programmes, and a coordinator to one of them – Learning Layers. We also coordinate and partner the European Union frame programme Horizon 2020. We have contracts with 55 partner universities from 30 countries and over 400 Erasmus+ partnerships, we are members of five international higher education networks and our researchers and academic staff participate actively in their professional networks.


Tallinn University offers a number of opportunities for international students from around the world to apply for our English-based degree programmes, exchange studies and regular courses. There are 131 programmes to choose from, including 6 BA, 12 MA and 14 PhD programmes taught English.

In addition, the International Tallinn Summer School with about 300 participants from 50 countries every year offers a 3-week programme in July, which includes courses in various fields presented by the best Estonian and foreign internationally acclaimed academics, opinion leaders and intellectuals. Similar programme, however with fewer courses is also offered in January in Tallinn Winter School.

The Excellent Scholarships At Tallinn University  Eligibility:

 Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligible Countries: International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must be citizens of Estonia or residing in Estonia on the basis of a long-term or temporary residence permit or permanent or temporary right of residence or staying in Estonia on the basis of a visa, or visa-free in the cases where a treaty for visa-free travel has been established or in the case of waiver of the visa requirements and have applied for temporary residence permit for studies
  • Applicants must have been matriculated between academic years 2014/2015 and 2018/2019
  • Applicants must be full-time students
